Vulcanised O rings are fantastic alternatives to moulded O rings if needed in a hurry! O ring Cord is taken & cut to the required length, then each end is heat vulcanised to form an O ring. All joints are produced by scarfing at 45°. This helps achieve very high tensile strengths as the area of vulcanising surface is greatly increased.
Vulcanised O rings are completely reliable; in fact tests have shown that the Vulcanised Join can actually be stronger than anywhere else on the seal. They can be used in both Static & Dynamic applications.
Another alternative is to butt Join an O ring, which is achieved by, again, taking the required amount of cord & gluing the ends together. This is only for use in static applications though.
