O-ring cord
O-ring cords offer an ideal remedy when prompt fabrication of a precisely sized O-ring is required.
The size of the O ring cord is determined by its cross section (e.g 1.78mm cross section), and are usually priced by the meter. SealXpress offer a wide range of sizes and materials.
Due to the cord not being an “endless seal” (Meaning, it is not a formed ring), O ring cord can be ideal for applications that do not give you full access to intstall a complete O-ring.
To join the cord into a complete ring, it is important to use the correct adhesive. Contact us today if you need any advice on which adhesive to use.
Standard materials
Temperature ranges for standard materials
Nitrile -35°C - +110°C
Viton -20°C - +205°C
EPDM -55°C - +125°C
Silicone -55°C - +225°C

Standard material suitability
Nitrile - The most standard material, and for good reason. It is suitable for use with hydraulic oils, vegetable oils, animal fats, acetylene, alcohols, water, air, fuels and many other fluids
-35°C - +110°C
Viton - Ideal for high-temperature applications and Viton also has every high resistance to various acids and bases. However, Viton is not ideal for hot water or steam and tends to lose its ability to work effectively in low-temperature environments.
-20°C - +205°C
EPDM - Ideal for outdoor use as this has a very good resistance to UV radiation and ageing. One of the more popular materials in certain industries for this reason.
-55°C - +125°C
Silicone - Silicone has a very good resistance to both low, and high temperatures. This makes it an ideal choice for various applications. They are also more flexible than their rubber counterparts.
-55°C - +225°C
