V-Rings

The standard V-Ring is an axial face seal manufactured purely from elastomer without any metal or fabric reinforcement. V-Rings are used as a single seal to protect against the contamination of dirt, dust, water, grease and oil etc. They are also used as a secondry seal to protect main rotary sealing elements which protect the bearings of heavy duty machinery.

V-rings work by stretching them over the shaft to create a tight seal while the flexible lips of the seal works lightly against the counterface at a right angle to the shaft.

V-rings are available in many different sizes and materials.

There are 3 main types of V-rings;

VA This is the most common profile, it has a perpendicular rear face. Available in a wide range of sizes from 3 to 2200mm shafts.

VL This style of seal is intended for use in applications where the space is limited. Range of sizes from 135mm - 630mm shafts.

VS With a wide body to ensure higher radial force than the VA type. Range of sizes from 5 - 210mm.

V-rings are easy to install. They are also economical because they have wide tolerances, meaning each standard size covers a range a multiple shaft sizes.
